The man isn't a wimp as much as poorly prepared for what needs to be done in such circumstances.

I have been banned from a survival/preparedness forum for basically stating people better be prepared to kill others when TSHTF.

They became outraged I would judge people BEFORE finding out their intentions,I was using this guy:

As an example of the 'just shoot them' policy.

yeah basically he wasn't mean enough. the two charachters made their intentions clear on the first visit. Should of shot em......but then where would the story of went?

I believe I wouldn't even talk to them,I would have simply took one of the many firearms in our house and walked out on the deck and prepared to shoot them.

No emotion,no vocal threats,I would treat it like having to shoot a stray dog attacking livestock-something I would rather not do but there is no alternative.

Right - i've finished watching it now. Great short movie. Kinda dumb to have a firearm without any ammo. I mean come on, one box of ammo wasn't going to break the budget. Also the daughter needed a good kick in the ar53. "I want to watch a DVD using a generator which you obtain fuel by going out unarmed into an area that's contaminated by an infectious disease"

This reminds me of a thread on GIM not far back about...how do you respond to the first knock on the door when TSHTF? Unprepared friends, or family members, neighbors?

As far as neighbors...they don't have a clue. But, maybe that won't stop them from trying to find out...especially if they happen to notice that I don't show up at the local FEMA food distribution point...hmmmmm

I have a similar problem. Wifes friends looked in our cupboards and saw a small part of our stash and commented on it. I was like "WTF are you doing opening our cupboards?". Also had family visit (they live a long long way away so it's cool) that felt the same and opened up our cupboards. I said to the parents "You do relise I have guns, knives and swords in those cupboards? Why don't you stop your kids from opening them?" (BTW ALL my weapons are locked in a rifle safe and the key stays on my person at ALL times so it was cool).


I don't know how I will respond SHTF / TEOTWAWKI but for me to cast my brother and parents to the wolves wouldn't be likely. In fact I've allready bought rifles and ammo on their behalf. Food is a bit more problematic but the way I see it is that the core of a healthy society is Family. But that's assuming you don't have a psycho in the family.

I live in a two bedroom flat. In it's favour is the limited entrance. Pretty easy to cover one door with a shotty :-) but two bedroom flat for 6 people?? pretty squeezy and no doubt cabin fever would set in pretty damn quick.

My parents have a Mc Mansion. It'd seriously suck to defend but is that reallistically going to be a problem out in the 'burbs? I'm not sure. I mean, 6 rifles would discourage random visitors....surely?

I've found the ultimate retreat but god damn if this real estate bubble hasn't made places expensive. Guess I'll keep saving the gold, bullets and preps and hope for the best - ie economic downturn, gold shoots up, property goes for next to nix and people keep their heads and don't need to Mr 308w punching them.
